Weaving culture by Sansi House
The work is inspired by the banyan tree, a symbol of unity in the principle of Indonesian nationhood, echoing the national eagle. The many branches represent the generations that have shaped the country's diverse cultures, blending harmoniously into a single entity. The top of the tree represents the indigenous Indonesian culture, which was subsequently influenced by a variety of influences that shaped the current cultural fusion. What we experience today is closer to the ground level of the tree, which is a complex mixture, so we may have forgotten the origins of the individual elements. The lower weave, not yet completed, symbolizes the creative potential of future generations inspired by different cultures, and it serves as a reminder to respect one's roots when undertaking new projects.
