Adam Robarts
Co-founder / Architect, Robarts Spaces
Adam Robarts is the co-founder/ director of Robarts Spaces, with over 110 staff and offices in Beijing, Shanghai, and Shenzhen. After receiving a distinction in Architecture at Cambridge, and his RIBA membership in 1989, Adam worked and taught in Manchester before arriving in China in 1993, where he has lived and worked for the past 25 years. In 1995 he received the state level ‘Friendship Award’ - the highest honour that China gives to foreign experts, whilst teaching at Qinghua University. In 1997, he and his wife, Karyn, opened their studio “Robarts Interiors & Architecture” in Beijing. Ten years later, in 2007 he was inducted as an honorary member of the Interior Design Magazine Hall of Fame - the highest honor of the interior design profession, awarded to individuals who have made significant contribution to the growth and prominence of the architecture and design fields. Over the past 27 years, Robarts Spaces- the firm’s new name following its merger in 2015 with Spaces Interiors- has completed over 1,000 built projects in China, with a focus on the design of meaningful environments for workplace, healthcare and education.
